Losing an hour isn’t so bad when you are taking a mini hiatus. Although I was beating myself up for sleeping in, thanks to a lemon blueberry bagel and Block Craft, Arik has given me a break from jedi fighting to complete this blog post.
Brief Note: my hiatus was to complete certain projects with my (soon-to-be) previous employer. Since, I was not given any revisions this Saturday – I was free to tackle on editing these photos I had taken last weekend ^_^
I had a lovely opportunity to work with Amanda and Matt for their special day. The wedding invitation designed for them was based on a theme of “tie the knot” in a casual formal vibe. When Amanda contacted me about their wedding, she described the decorations of burlap, sea glass, rope, chalkboards, and drift wood. From that, and a pinterest board we shared, I came up with several sketches for them to choose from.
After looking at the sketches and going through some digital proofs, it was down to the wooden board. I had a lot of fun illustrating the board and looking up ways to make a wood grain texture. The display fonts I used gave it that casual formal vibe, pairing a script with a casual sans serif, both with a handlettered feel. The smaller san serif contrasted the display fonts nicely because it was still in the casual formal style, but the technical look gave the piece ground to stand on.
These invitations were printed on my Epson Artisan, on ivory 110lb cardstock with matching ivory envelopes.
